Technology is a wonder. I think I will donate all of my non-working computers, VCRs and vacuum cleaners to all the little boys that need to take one apart and put it back together. Teach our children technology, but balance it with old-time skills as well. I made sure our wall clock had hands, when I realized that my kids could only read a digital clock. What skills do you think have been lost? (I am sure everyone will agree that knowing technology is a good thing; but I want to know about the old skills dear to you).

every child should plant a garden at least once in their lives-and when they suceed in this, it will not be their last. the wonder of actually taking a tiny seed, sticking it in the dirt and watching it grow into something beautiful, wonderful, tasteful, or useful, not to mention tangible,is lost on our computer video-gamed tevelisioned out giga-pet kids of today. give them the wonder of nature- it is something they will remember and hopefully pass down to their kids. not so very important, maybe, but a skill and lesson in nature all wrapped in one tiny little seed.
i think that people have lost sight of the important things in life, like just spending quality time together..reguardless if its playing a game, having your kids help u work to teach them some skills and responsibility, or just having a picnic...kids think t.v., and computers are the only way to go...us, as adults have to get out from in front of the t.v. or computer ourselves and make this happen...
okay I gotta tell ya, how about candle making? We use to live on the Pacific Coast and we would dig a hole in the sand on the beach- pour in some wax- add a few shells we found (most likely abalone or sanddollar) and a wick...we would make a sand candle...no two are alike. THIS is a skill I feel may have been lost.
